1. The public visit to the Caminito del Rey is based on the fundamental principle of achieving compatibility between the citizens' right to enjoy a public asset and its conservation and the preservation of its values. To this end, it must be taken into account that it is located in a natural environment and that, due to its location, the risk factor or a certain degree of physical effort or skill to traverse it is inherent. Both nuances make it an active tourism resource.
2. Out of respect for the environment, the natural surroundings, and other visitors, the most civic behavior possible must be maintained during the visit. Especially, the formation of crowds, running, speaking loudly, leaning dangerously over the railings, or any other action that could endanger the balance of the existing flora and fauna and the physical integrity of the visitors shall be avoided.
3. Consequently, access to this resource will require prior knowledge and acceptance of minimum rules of use, without which the access ticket cannot be obtained.
4. Visitors will be traversing a protected natural area and its surroundings. Consequently, all signage will be designed in accordance with the Manual of Signage in Natural Spaces of the Junta de Andalucía, and all instructions required by the Control Staff, Environmental Agents, or Civil Guard Agents, in the exercise of their duties, shall be mandatory.
The "Caminito del Rey", located in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Natural Park, is situated in the centre of the province of Málaga, less than 60 km from the capital. It is bordered to the north by the Serranía de Ronda and the Llanos de Antequera, and to the south by the Guadalhorce Valley and the historic region of Campo de Cámara.
