El Caminito del Rey obtains the Aster Award for Marketing by the ESIC Business and Marketing School

Málaga hosts for the first time the awards that recognize the work done by business and social enterprises and organizations.Tiendanimal and Trops have been given the Aster Awards for Digital Innovation and Business History. The event was celebrated in Edgar Nevil Auditorium in the County Council as the part of the graduation ceremony of the 2019 ESIC postgraduate studies.

Edgar Nevil Auditorium in the County Council in Málaga has hosted today the Aster Awards for Eastern Andalusia granted by ESIC Business and Marketing School. These national prizes have been granted for thirty-eight years, awarding entities for their professional and business activity. This was the first time this event has happened in Málaga as the part of the graduation ceremony of the 2019 ESIC postgraduate studies.

County Council President Francisco Salado congratulated the graduated students and ESIC Business and Marketing School, which was represented by its managing director Eduardo Gómez Martín and manager for Andalusian area Ignacio de la Vega, on their more than fifty-years-long business history.

President Salado received the Marketing Aster Award, prize which ESIC grants to those organizations that recognize the needs of their markets and offer new valuable solutions for them. The jury in this category consisted of Cristina Porras, commercial manager of  ESIC Málaga; Suncruise Andalucía Manager Esther Molina; Julián Trinchet, Manager of Mapfre for the Southern Area; Ana Morales, Vice-president of AJE Málaga, and professor at ESIC Carlos de la Guardia. They indicated that the Caminito del Rey Project had known how to recover the natural heritage of Málaga and turn it into a greatly important tourism supply for the entire region.

The refurbishment of El Caminito del Rey, according to Francisco Salado: "is one of the most ambitious projects done by this County Council". It has been visited by 1.4 million people from more than one hundred countries.

He reminded that the County Council started up the project together with the surrounding town halls, the Andalusian Government and several ministries, and he showed his gratitude to these bodies, as well as to the management company Hermanos Campano, and ESIC Business and marketing school for their support of this collective project that "gives so much to this province".

As the director of the company Turismo Costa del Sol said, 2019 was the best year for the tourism in this province. These positive results have to do with the inland of the province where the number of tourists also grew last year.

Mr Salado said: "We have been beating the number of one million visitors in the inland for three years now, and there is no doubt that the Caminito del Rey has transformed the tourism supply, and, what is more important, helped the employment growth by creating opportunities in the inland towns in order to stop depopulation, which was one of the most important aims of the County Council."

The County Council's goal now is to achieve that the Caminito del Rey becomes a nominee for inclusion on the UNESCO's World Heritage List, which is why this body and the Andalusian Regional Government have started the campaign for its support which now includes 19,000 people and companies.

Two of them are precisely the companies that were awarded the above prize together with El Caminito del Rey Path. Tiendanimal and Trops have been given, respectively, the Aster Awards for Digital Innovation and Business History. Francisco Salado thanked both for their support, and congratulated them on their exemplary business development, which was crucial for the economic growth of the province and employment creation.
