El Caminito del Rey launches a video to thank the visitors for fighting back against the pandemic and supporting its proposal for nomination for the UNESCO’s World Heritage List

This natural beauty spot has been closed since 14th March.

The Caminito del Rey project has launched a video at its social networks in order to thank to all citizens for helping diminish the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to remind them that this natural site and an international tourist attraction, which is working on its proposal for the nomination for UNESCO’s World Heritage List, is still here and waiting for them to come back to its incredible boardwalks. The boardwalks, which are fixed in the rocks, are now empty, but will be used again with new safety measures once the lockdown is over.

The video shows how the river flows, and the plants and animals remain at the same place.  At the end of it, there is a slogan that says: ‘We’ll go on walking very soon’. The idea which is meant to be conveyed is that everything is the same and waiting for this situation to end so that visitors can admire the scenery which aspires to become a world heritage site.

Since 14th March, El Caminito del Rey Path has been closed to the public. The management company Hermanos Campano, the County Council of Málaga and the surrounding towns’ councils, are working together on the recovery and safety of El Caminito del Rey Path and the main tourist destinations in the area.
