El Caminito del Rey is a venue for a campaign for supporting Josep Carreras Foundation and the marrow donation

The ticket sales takings are allocated to Josep Carreras Foundation and their research in order to turn leukaemia in a completely curable disease.Olympic Games swimmer from Málaga Carlos Peralta came from Barcelona to support this cause, as well as other 1000 people who came to see the trail.

Today on 10th September, El Caminito del Rey path hosted an event dedicated to the marrow donation together with Josep Carreras Foundation, Málaga's Association for Research on Leukaemia (AMPILE), the County Council of Málaga, and the town councils of Ardales and Álora, motivated by the World Marrow Donor Day, which is going to be celebrated next Saturday on the 21st September.

Company in charge of the Caminito del Rey management Hermanos Campano, have allocated all the sales takings of 1100 tickets to Josep Carreras Foundation in order to support their research on this disease which aims to cure leukaemia, disease that affects more than 5000 people a year in this country.

This event was lead by desire to keep supporting the marrow donation, a legacy left by Pablo Ráez, young man from Málaga who fought against leukaemia, inspired hundreds of young people to keep fighting and increased the marrow donation by 400%. His family could not attend the event because of work but they were grateful for it and in the mind of all people who were there.

The greatest wish of Pablo Ráez was to raise pubic awareness of the importance of this donation, as well as give our best to help people in need. This is how we can do our bit to make this world a better place without leukaemia.

This campaign was supported by Olympic swimmer Carlos Peralta, who came from Barcelona to support this cause, as well as President of Málaga's Association for Research on Leukaemia Julia Sánchez (AMPILE) and spokesman of this organization José Blanco, who were all glad and satisfied with the event. Jorge Vallejo also joined the event as representative of the Organ Transplant Coordination for the area of Málaga. Director of the Centre for Transfusion in Málaga Isidro Prat attended the event as well and underlined that solidarity is the base of all donations.

Moreover, the ticket sales takings are allocated to Josep Carreras Foundation, and all security, information and maintenance staff of El Caminito del Rey worked for free to show their altruism as well as the travel agencies like Ardalestur, Galeota, Aloratur and Guadaltur.
